Be brilliant, play smart, and discover how to play craps the right way!
Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is just about a century old. Current craps developed from the 12th Century Anglo game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the birth of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the twelfth century. It is supposed that Sir William’s paladins bet on Hazard during a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.
Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when displaced by the English, the French headed down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they a while later became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it fair mathematically. It is said that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which was gotten from the name of the bad luck throw of two in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi barges and all over the nation. Most acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the father of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn designed the modern craps setup. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so gamblers can wager on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he created the spots for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
